Bobby Garver Bright, 91, of Arcola, died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Arthur Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Bobby was born May 9, 1926 in Martinsville, the son of Orville and Cora Garver Bright. He married Dorothy Walls in Arcola on January 27, 1951; she survives.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Bright of Arthur; 3 children, Janis (William) Navigato of Savoy; Steve (Vicky) Bright of Arcola; Pam (Jeff) Wohead of Bastrop, Texas; grandchildren, Gregory Wohead; Patrick (Anglea) Bright; Stacy (Ben) Bartle; Ryan (Crystal) Navigato; Bradlee Navigato; great grandsons, Keaton Mowery; Bridger Bartle; Gavin Bright; and best friend, Jerry Hale. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Evelyn Thompson, Frieda Wood, and Imogene Thompson.
Bobby graduated from Arcola High School Class of 1944. He retired from farming and was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church; Arcola Masonic Lodge; volunteer driver for Arcola Telecare; and former president of the Atwood Elevator Board.
Bobby was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II where he served on the USS Champlin, DD601. He participated in the Honor Flight on May 12, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arcola Public Library.
