Billy "Bill" Lee East, 81, of Decatur, formerly of Arcola, died at 9:22 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2013 while a resident of Casey Health Care Facility.

There will be no services. Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born November 4, 1931 in Hindsboro, the son of James Nelson and Lena Black East. He married Mildred "Millie" Rich of Arthur on February 21, 1954 in Arcola. She preceded him in death October 2, 2010 while residing at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.

He is survived by a son, Tony East; granddaughter, Hannah East; and a special nephew, Doug Neese all of Decatur; 2 brothers, John (Helen) East of Mattoon; Lowell (Vi) East of Charleston; a sister, Joan Jason of Loomis, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; sisters, Helen Riggle, Jessie Greenway, Bona Gene Brown, and Louise Moyer; and a brother, Ralph "Sarge" Moyer.

Bill served in the U.S. Army for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was discharged as corporal in 1952.

Bill owned and operated a concrete construction business for several years and retired to care for his wife when her health started to fail.
