Billy went to join Edith in heaven on October 23rd, 2025. He was born September 28th,1928, in Casey IL to Ernest E. and Alice Brandenburg, graduated from Casey HS in 1946, married his sweetheart, Edith, October 11th, 1950, served his country in the US Army, helped his dad farm, roughnecked on oil rigs, and in the late 1950's, became employed by USI Chemicals, Tuscola IL, where he worked until his retirement in 1991. Edith joined him in retirement in 1992, and together they did lots of traveling, community volunteering, home improvement projects, and spoiling of grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Dad enjoyed, and was very proficient at woodworking, making and giving as gifts, countless beautifully made objects and furniture. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved all animals, but especially dogs. His family, for certain, and the world will miss the quiet and reserved, good and honest man that he was. He and Edie were a team, and together and separately, they set many good examples for their children and grandchildren.
Among those mourning their loss are sons John Thomas (Carole Ann) Brandenburg, Samuel (Sara Jane) Brandenburg, daughter, Dale Lynn Myers, son-in-law, Randy Davis, grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Barbee, Ashlea (Bryan) Tobeck, Allison Brandenburg, John Andrew (Kayla) Brandenburg, Ryan (Lacey) Brandenburg, Hannah (Johnny) Marcrum, Michael (Noelle) Myers, Timothy Myers, Rachel Davis Small, Jeff Kibler, Jennifer (Phil) Stewart, James Hatchel, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Norma Denney, of Ypsilanti MI.
Bill was preceded in death by wife, Edith (December 5th, 2021), daughter, Lea Ann Davis, son-in-law, Jimmy D Myers, and many brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Carriage Crossing Champaign nurses and staff, and Transitions Hospice, for the care of, and compassion for our father, and Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home for their kind attention.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the United Church of Atwood, the James Reeder American Legion Post 770, Atwood IL, or donor's choice.
