Bill G. Higgins, 77, of Tuscola, IL, passed away at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL, with the Rev. Scott Zorn officiating. A time of sharing will be held 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Bill was born on February 19, 1933 in Flat Rock, IL, the son of Earl and Ruth Pinkstaff Higgins. He married Betty J. Napier on May 30, 1953 in Annapolis, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Greg Higgins and wife: Kim of Tuscola, Cathy Short and husband: Thom of Tuscola, 5 grandchildren: Allyson, Casey and Sean Higgins, Matthew and Morgan Short, 2 brothers: Jack Higgins of Bettendorf, IA and Bob Higgins of Robinson, IL, 1 sister: Marge Baud of Stoy, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Mary Wilson and a granddaughter: Amanda Short
Bill retired from USI Chemical Company in 1997, after working there as an electrician and iron worker for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tuscola First Christian Church and a member of the Operating Engineers Union. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.
