Betty Ruth Sharp, 92, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with Rev. Mike Drake and Chaplin Tony Crouch officiating.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.

Mrs. Sharp was born May 30, 1923 in Atwood, IL the daughter of Francis and Rosa Lee Dukeman Sanders. She married Leslie Robert "Bob" Sharp, Jr. on June 15, 1946 in Sycamore, IL. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2012.

Betty is survived by her sons: Charles Robert Sharp and wife: Karen of Sycamore, IL, Donald Edward Sharp of Atwood, IL, daughter: Frances Elaine Sharp Brewer and husband Richard of Tolono, IL, 5 grandchildren: Stacy (Kris) McCall, Jessica Sharp, Dan Sharp, Jason Brewer and Justin Brewer, 5 great-grandchildren: Spencer McCall, Preston McCall, Brianna Brewer, Logan Brewer and Maddox Brewer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings: Mary Day, Stephen Sanders, Johny Sanders, Leta Bragg, Francis Sanders and Faye Collins.

Mrs. Sharp was a member of the United Church of Atwood where she taught every Sunday School class at one time or another. She was a lifetime member of the Atwood Legion Auxiliary and Arcola VFW Auxiliary where she held numerous offices. Betty was a newspaper reporter for the Tuscola, Atwood, Decatur and Champaign papers. She enjoyed reading, sitting on her porch swing watching and feeding the animals, quilting, gardening, fishing, collecting salt and pepper shakers, visiting with the neighbors and other friends and most of all spending time with her family.
