Betty Alice Dukeman Bragg, 94, of Atwood, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Willow Breeze Hospice House at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon, IL.

Betty was born March 31, 1930, near Garret, IL, the daughter of Olan R. and Edith Fristoe Dukeman. She married William Frank Bragg on August 8, 1948 at Lake Fork Church, rural Atwood, IL.  He passed away on May 29, 2020.

Surviving are her sons: Mark Bragg (Tammy Lentz) of Charleston and Michael (Debra) Bragg of Chicago, grandchildren: Jonathan (Nikki) Bragg, Erin "Maggie" (Kosta) Demopoulos and Matthew (Molly) Bragg, great-grandchildren: Alice and Rosemary Bragg, Tegan and Braxton Bragg, Nikolas, Astraia, Ioanna and Levin Demopoulos, sister: Marilyn Roze of New Preston, CT, nephews and niece: Scott (Marie) Roze, Todd Roze (Anke Franklin), Russell (Sheri) Dukeman, Cheryl (John) Franks and Joe (Karen) Dukeman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brother Robert Dukeman.

Betty was a partner with her husband in their farming operation on the family farm near Atwood until their retirement in 1995.  She was the financial manager, ran the bean walkers, helped move equipment during planting and harvesting, and provided meals for the farming crew.

She was well known for her large garden, expertly prepared meals, and her baked goods -cookies and pies being her specialty.  After retirement she enjoyed spending the winters in McAllen, Texas and spending time with her family and many friends in Texas and Illinois.

Betty was a life-long member of the Atwood community and the Lake Fork Church and later the United Church of Atwood where she was active in the women's fellowship and other church functions.

Our family is grateful for many kindnesses showed to us by family and friends over the past month and to all health care providers at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital and Willow Breeze Hospice House.

Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Atwood.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the United Church of Atwood, 210 North Main Street, Atwood, IL. Burial will follow in the Lake Fork Cemetery, rural Atwood.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
