Bettie Jeanne Wallraven, 90, of Tuscola, IL passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, July 25th, 2015.
Bettie was born on December 24, 1924 in Purcell, Oklahoma and later moved to Hobart, Oklahoma, where she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Carl Wallraven. They had three loving children and raised them in Oklahoma City. Soon after Kenneth's passing in 1969, Bettie began her career at the Oklahoma Wildlife Department of Conservation and Education. After retirement, in 1988, Bettie moved to Tuscola, Illinois to be closer to her family and grandchildren.
Bettie was preceded in death by her mother Nora High, father Roy E. High, sister Bernice Snider Sheley, brother Roy J. High and husband Kenneth Wallraven.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Kay Wallraven and wife, Chris, of Little Rock, AR., Shammy Bea Rucker and husband, Mike, of Nashville, TN. and Allyssa Dee Shirazi and husband, Moe, of Tuscola, IL, 10 grandchildren: Megan, Justin, Gary, Tonya, Jay, Erika, Jessie, Jonathan, Crystal, and Jahaun, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Bettie enjoyed life. As a Master Gardener, she created breathtaking floral arrangements for others to admire. As a Boy Scout and Campfire Girl leader, she showed children how to appreciate nature. As a Sunday School teacher, she instilled the love of God in the hearts of her students. And, as a loving mother and grandmother, she nurtured a philosophy of kindness, taking one day at a time, and trusting everything always works out.
Bettie Wallraven was loved very much. She will forever be remembered as someone who found joy in all of God's creations.
Funeral services to honor the life of Bettie Wallravem will be held at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, IL on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL
