Bessie M. Benner, 98, of Tuscola, passed away at 11:32 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Tuscola Health Care Center, Tuscola, IL

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Tuscola Township Cemetery with Pastor Alan Harris officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL

Bessie was born on April 19, 1925 in Douglas County, IL, the daughter of Jerome E. and Hazel Trenary Wells. She married James E. Benner on December 31, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2005.

Survivors include her daughters: Shirley (Danny) Postlewait of Arthur, Sharon (David) Dillon of TX and Janet Ruby of MO, 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: James Benner, grandchildren: Cheryl Crist, Jason Crist and Angela Ruby Allen, brother: Jerome Wells, sisters: Alfredia Warner, Flossie Harrison and twin sister: Jessie Jewell.

Bessie was a homemaker and formerly cleaned houses. She was a very active member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.
