Bertha "Bert" Jean Martin, 63, of Cadwell, died at 8:50 PM Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Bert was born February 27, 1947 in Aurora, the daughter of Marvin and Vilena Sutliff Beyke. She married Jerry Martin in Forest City on January 3, 1970.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Jerry Martin of Cadwell; mother, Vilena Franck of Pekin; 2 daughters, Kelly Rollyson of Cadwell; Jennifer (Chet) Melton of Summerville, South Carolina; brother, Lawrence Joseph Beyke of Sandwich; 2 sisters, Barbara (Scott) Theede of Tomahawk, Wisconsin; Bonnie (Jerry) Wills of Mackinaw, IL; 3 grandchildren, Grant and Ellie Melton and Jack Martin Rollyson. She was preceded in death by her father and 1 brother, James Beyke.
Bert graduated from Madonna High School in Aurora which was an all-girls Catholic school. She formerly worked at the Arthur Flower Shop, Ivan's Feed Mill, and Effingham Equity. She retired in 1988.
She enjoyed reading and painting, and sold her artwork at the Pumpkin Patch in Arthur. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
