Obituary

Barbara Lou Brock (née Graham), 73, of Arthur passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family after a hard-fought cancer battle.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Arthur Southern Baptist Church with the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 also at the church with the Rev. Doug Davis and Rev. Mike Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Shrader Funeral Home is-in-charge of arrangements.

Barb was born on June 29, 1945 in Geneva, Illinois to Henry Alonzo and Floy Alice (née Ferguson) Graham. She married George Robert Fleming on November 1, 1963 in Gays, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1980. She later married David Brock on July 14, 1991 in Sullivan, Illinois. He survives.

Barb grew up on the family farm near Mattoon, Illinois and attended school in Cooks Mills and Humboldt prior to graduating from Mattoon High School in 1963. She was employed by the Illinois Masonic Home (Mason Point) at Sullivan for 36 years—a job she loved with people she loved. Barb loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of the Arthur Southern Baptist Church and thoroughly enjoyed her Sunday School class.

Barb loved her family, her church, her many pets, her community and her gardens and flowers, particularly sunflowers. She loved to laugh, read and especially enjoyed family gatherings and travels to watch her kids and grandchildren participate in sports, music, and FFA activities. She loved attending church in Aurora and listening to Travis preach. She received the Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree from the Arthur FFA Chapter in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Fleming; her parents, Henry and Floy Graham; And in addition to her husband Dave Brock, she is survived by children James Robert Fleming (special friend Carol Gudausky) of Arthur; Melissa Diane Carson (Wayne) of Hammond; Travis Michael Fleming (Melissa) of Aurora, Illinois, as well as two stepdaughters, Lauren Leon (Cesar) of Avon Park, Florida and Leah Rawlings of Greenup, Illinois. Her brother, William Henry "Bill" Graham (Linda) of Mattoon and several precious brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as her grandchildren, Blake Carson (Amy), Courtney Carson, and Ashley Carson all of Hammond; Brittany Carson of Monticello; Eliana Fleming, Moriah Fleming, Elijah Fleming, and Josiah Fleming, all of Aurora. Her step-grandchildren, Nathan Springsteen, Noah Springsteen, Aaron Springsteen all of Avon Park, Florida, Brock Rawlings of Greenup, Illinois, Jacob LaGrou, Urbana, Illinois and Kayley LaGrou of Charleston, Illinois. Her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Carson, and Landon, plus her extended and Mason Point families.

Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, Arthur Southern Baptist Church, Village Bible Church (Aurora Campus) or Arthur Lions Club.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Care Center, Drs. Shakir and Jagar, Lincolnland Hospice, Arthur Lions Club, Missy, Carol, Leah, Lauren, and Melissa for Mom's daily care, and "Doty and Dexter" for lifting her spirits with their personal music concerts. Barb was a true fighter who never relished in her health situations or any trial and praised each victory with an overwhelming positive attitude.
