A rleigh Jones, of Aurora, formerly of Tuscola, passed away on March 21, 2025.
Mr. Jones was born December 17, 1934, in Shelbyville, Illinois. His parents were Laurence and Leola (Kull) Jones. He had a younger sister, Barbara Ann "Bobbi".
Mr. Jones attended Shelbyville High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He trained at the Aberdeen Proving Ground and was later stationed in Japan.
He was married to Mary Jane Lading of Strasburg, Illinois on June 23, 1957. Arleigh and Mary Jane moved to Tuscola in 1959 and raised three daughters: Arla, Brenda and Linda.
Arleigh was a very talented mechanic. He worked on automobiles, construction equipment, and farm equipment. He particularly enjoyed working on antique tractors.
Mr. Jones was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion Post 27. He served in numerous activities in his community and enjoyed volunteering the SAM Food Pantry for several years.
Arleigh and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in Europe, as well as Australia, New Zealand and the Arctic Circle. They also enjoyed traveling across the United States by motorcycle.
He is survived by his daughters: Arla Jones, Brenda Lovik and Linda Cesario; grandsons: Christopher Lovik, Matthew Lovik, Robert Cesario and David Cesario: great granddaughters: Stella Cesario and Cora Cesario: and his brother-in-law: Dale Murray. His wife: Mary Jane Jones preceded him in death on March 10, 2020 and his sister: Barbara "Bobbi" Murray also preceded him in death in 2022.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 East Northline Road, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Jason Braaten officiating. Burial with military graveside rites accorded will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
