Antone "Tony" Lloyd Kemnetz, 79, of Urbana, IL, passed away suddenly at 4:48 pm, Friday, September 5, 2014 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL.
Graveside Services with military graveside rites accorded will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Arcola Township Cemetery, Arcola, IL.
Tony was born on May 19, 1935 at Chatsworth, IL, the son of Lloyd D. and Irene M. Hummel Kemnetz. He married Shirley Moriarty on March 26, 1960. She preceded him in death. He married Phyllis J. Kelly on September 3, 1988 in Champaign, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 3 sons: Bryan J. (Jennifer) Kemnetz of Stillwater, MN, Michael G. (Carol) Kemnetz of Leroy, IL, Steven Daniel Kemnetz of Washington, IL, 3 daughters: Julie Ann (Kent) Smith of Lafayette, IN, Mary G. Kemnetz of Rantoul, IL and Geraldine M. Kemnetz of St. Paul, MN, step-son: Dr. Terry M. (Lauren) Kelly of Tampa, FL, step-daughter: Kristen J. (Zach) Henderson of Mahomet, IL, 9 grandchildren: Ivy Kemnetz, Grant Smith, Heather Smith, Jenny Smith, Justin Kemnetz, Shelbie Kemnetz, Kaila Kemnetz, Tyler Kelly and Lauren Henderson. sisters: Mardelle A. McPherson of Boca Raton, FL, Nancy Varner of Edmond, OK, and Darla K. Rogganbuck of Bourbonnais, IL, brother: Lloyd D. Kemnetz of Chatsworth, IL
Tony retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves after having served for 28 years. He worked as a grain elevator manager for 25 years, including Frito Lay in Sidney, IL. Tony received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois and 2 associate's degrees from Parkland College.
