Anna LaVerne Waite, 93, of Tuscola IL passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare of Savoy.

As per her request, she will be cremated with graveside services for family to be held at a future date.

Anna LaVerne (also known as Snookie, a childhood nickname) was born January 26, 1931 the daughter of Richard Dee Tevis and Mary Cecil (Wheeler). She married Charles Duane Waite on July 7, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas.

She is survived by her children: Darrell Waite of Tuscola, Mary Beth Waite Ochs (Dennis) of Tuscola, Karen Kilker of Tuscola, Kevin Waite (Cindy) of Phoenix, AZ. Her youngest son, Aaron Lee Waite preceded her in death on Oct 13, 2020. She has seven grandchildren: Brett Ochs, Lauren Ochs, Kristen Ochs, Ian Waite, Eric Waite, Shannon Waite, and Sean Kilker. She has 5 great grandchildren: Ethan Zgura, Addisyn Grove, Wyatt Waite, Stella Waite, and baby boy Kilker due in March 2025. She is also survived by a beloved extended family of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins.

Anna LaVerne graduated from high school and business college and worked as a secretary in Tuscola Grade Schools as well as Tuscola High School and retired as secretary to Superintendent of Schools and bookkeeper for the district.

She was a devoted homemaker and cook who enjoyed trying new recipes and hosting family get togethers and reunions.
She delighted in the children of the family and extended family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was creative and enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, crocheting, gardening, and flower arranging of silk or fresh flowers. She was a member of the Tuscola Quilting Club for a number of years. Her crafting projects were often shared with her family.

In remembrance, donations are suggested to Carle Hospice, Humane Society or Animal Shelter (She loved pets and animals) or SAM Pantry.
