Alta Fern Gibson, 91, of Hammond, IL passed away at 9:51 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 South Vine Street, Arthur, IL with Rev. James Allison officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL.
Mrs. Gibson was born April 28, 1925 in Coles County, IL, the daughter of Charles E. and Iva F. Kimball Roberts. She married James Robert "Bob" Gibson on February 17, 1942 in Palmyra, MO.
Fern is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bob of Hammond, IL and her son, James Robert "Bob" Gibson, Jr. of Hammond, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Fern attended the Arthur Community Schools. She was affiliated with the Hammond United Methodist Church. She was a member of the DeWalt Mechlin DAR in suburban Chicago.
