She was a member of the TCHS class of 1936. During WWII, Alma and her sister Mary moved to Detroit to work in the war factories. She later moved to Pasadena, TX where she worked at Abel's drugstore. She returned to Tuscola in the mid 70's to work at the Four Seasons and to care for her mother. Along with her mother, she was a member of the Tuscola United Church of Christ.
She was married to Elmo Pearson and later to Chester "Red" Hammond both of Tuscola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Eloise Hinton, Bernice Hackett, Margaret Ann Manly, Marcella Winkler, Lawson, James, and Amos. She is survived by her sister, Mary Piscopo Thompson of Detroit. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Alma was a wonderful cook and introduced many of the Albrittons and others in Illinois to Italian cooking and possibly the first pizza in Tuscola.
Aunt Alma was extremely kind to all of her nieces and nephews and their families. There were always birthday and Christmas gifts. She was always available to baby sit or do whatever was needed.
Her door was always open and there was always something cooking. As family members passed away, the survivors met at Alma's almost every evening for dinner and conversation.
The past several years Alma resided at the Newman Rehabilitation Center where she made many friends and received excellent care.
