Obituary

Albert C. "Butch" Fisher, 75, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Hammond, IL, passed away at 9:36 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his residence.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL with military rites accorded.

Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the funeral home with 5 p.m. Masonic Rites.

Butch was born on October 6, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of Everett Charles and Juanita McDaniel Fisher. He married his high school sweetheart: Sherlyn Sue Sykes on November 24, 1968 at the Hammond United Methodist Church. She survives.
They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November.

Other survivors include his son: Chuck (Shelly) Fisher of Bloomington, IL, daughter: Carmen (Mark) Hamilton of Murfreesboro, TN, grandchildren: Carly, Chase and Camry Fisher, Andrew and Caitlyn Hamilton, sister: Patricia Heit of Atwood and brother: Bill (Ellie) Miller of Portland, OR

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Butch graduated from Atwood-Hammond High School and received his Agriculture Degree from Southern Illinois University.

He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Butch farmed, worked for Kemper Insurance, Morton Buildings and was a resource conservationist for the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation District. He traveled to many schools and events with his rainfall simulator and promoted no-till farming methods prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the Bement Masonic Lodge #365, AF & AM, board member of Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District, former president of the Atwood-Hammond School Board and trustee of the Hammond Village Board. He was an avid horseman and was a member of the American Road Horse Assn. Butch's pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite saying was: God – Family – Soil.
