Alan "Bud" Robert Gilbert, 77, of Garrett, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday ,February 6, 2023 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon.

There will be private family graveside service.  Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, is assisting the family with services.

Bud was born November 16, 1945 in Savoy, the son of Kenneth and Noreen Haytt Gilbert.  He married Shirley Swisher in Hindsboro on November 8, 1970.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Gilbert of Garrett; 2 sons, Scott (Renee) Gilbert of Macon, Georgia; Rob (Wendy) Natalie of Carlyle, Indiana; daughter, Amy Kauffman of Hume; brother, David (Vicki) Gilbert of Arcola; sister, Valerie (David) Kinnaird of Charleston; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son, David Mulvaney.

Bud was a graduate of Oakland High School Class of 1963. He served in the Illinois National Guard from 1963-1970.  He was employed as a welder for Local Union 157.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
