Obituary
Ada McGuire Crum, 83, of St. Joseph, formerly of Tuscola, died Saturday (July 6, 2013) at Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, IL.
Ada was born July 7, 1929 in Terre Haute, Ind., the youngest of seven children, to Fred and Helen Bennett Mathes. She grew up in Decatur, IL attending Decatur High School and Brown's Business College. She married Judson F. McGuire November 10, 1946 in Tuscola. He passed away April 5, 1995. They were blessed with four children, Tim (Debbie), Tom (Jan), Micki Suits (Lowell), and Rick. She has eight grandchildren, Greg McGuire, Brian McGuire (Stacy), Jon McGuire, Andrew McGuire, Jennie McGuire (Dave Burke), Ben McGuire (Sara), Tammy Ingram, (Jasen) and Dave Suits (Melissa); 10 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Emily, Nicholas, Zachary, Logan, Evan, Kailyn, Lucas, Avery, and Tanner.
Ada married Hubert E. Crum September 20, 1997. He passed away March 25, 2012. She has one stepson, Richard Crum (Kathy), two stepdaughters, Brenda Baker (Ray) and Glenda McMinn, three step granddaughters, Keli, Christie, and Tracy, three step grandsons, Rick, Nick, and Ray (Cassandra), and ten step great-grandchildren, Casey, McKenzie, Bryson, Amaya, Josh, Alexis, Kortney, Trevor, Cassie and Samantha.
Ada retired from Jarman Hospital as manager of patient accounts. She was a member of Tuscola Women of the Moose and Hillside Bethel Tabernacle in Decatur. When Ada was young, she greatly enjoyed working in her flower gardens, bowling, attending her children's ball games, and crossword puzzles. In later years, reading and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her son Rick McGuire, four brothers, Bill, Herb, Bob and Jim Mathes, two sisters Ida Messamore and Lohene Sims, and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with funeral services on Wednesday, July 10 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.
