Leslie Robert “Bob” Sharp, Jr., 89, of Atwood, IL, passed away at 6:35 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL, with the Rev. Dennis Hanner and Chaplin Tony Crouch officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites accorded will be held at the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL.

Bob was born on June 4, 1922 in Sullivan, IL, the son of Leslie Robert and Elsie Mae Schuchman Sharp. He married Betty Ruth Sanders on June 15, 1946 in Sycamore, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his sons: Charles Robert Sharp and wife: Karen of Sycamore, IL, Donald Edward Sharp of Atwood, IL, daughter: Frances Elaine Sharp Brewer and husband: Richard of Tolono, IL, 5 grandchildren: Stacy (Kris) McCall, Jessica Sharp, Dan Sharp, Jason Brewer and Justin Brewer, 4 great-grandchildren: Spencer & Preston McCall, Brianna & Logan Brewer, brother: Donald Albert Sharp of Kingsport, TN

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Bob formerly worked as a sheet metal worker for Progress Industries in Arthur, IL. He served his country as a member of the Army Air Forces during World War II. Bob was a member of the United Church of Atwood, lifetime member of the VFW and the James Reeder American Legion Post #770, Atwood, IL.
